On Wednesday 2nd September 2026 We Remember Submariners were invited to attend Veterans Outreach Support Portsmouth’s drop in day. Events Coordinator Mrs Leigh Dodds hosted a table of WRS merchandise and socialised with veterans over tea and a slice of cake. They were celebrating the 125th anniversary of the submarine service with tea and cakes for a group of retired submariners. Many were already WRS members and some even wore the WRS San Juan Rugby shirt. A lovely afternoon was had by all.

Submariners Brian Rustage, Grant Shuttleworth, Craig Walker and supported by driver, Nick Rustage recently completed the 24 hour three peaks challenge, raising money for We Remember Submariners. In preparation, they did a lot of training walks in North Wales, including many of the summits close to Snowdon, which did much to improve the fitness levels of the group. On the journey North, they had seen many road signs which had indicated a road closure but they had given themselves sufficient time to change their start time. The HMS Collingwood Open Day on Saturday 6th July turned out to be a beautifully sunny day, which encouraged the crowds to turn out in force to visit the home of Naval Weapons Electrical Engineering and watch the annual Brickwoods Field Gun Competition. The We Remember Submariner’s gazebo was once again pitched in a key location and drew large crowds all day. Events Coordinator, Mrs Leigh Dodds was ably assisted on the day by Chairman, Michael Dewhirst, Membership Manager, John Ireland, Pin Coordinator, Mrs Terri Mellor, WRS Trustee Cdr Rob Richards and his partner, Georgina Pickering…
