We Remember Submariners have, since 2019, operated a subscription membership which is not exclusive to submariners but is open to everyone who wishes to support the charity.
Membership currently is offered on an annual basis and following the first year of membership a member can elect to pay in advance for 1, 2, 5 or 10 years of membership.
A 1 year membership entitles the member to a number of benefits associated with membership:
- You are a member for 1 full year (or longer if you have subscribed for 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10 years that can be paid for in advance).
- If you are a new member you are entitled to a WRS Membership badge in the 1st year of membership.
- You are sent 1 annual pin for the year in which your membership starts, eg, 2026 (and all subsequent years in which you remain as a subscribing member).
- Should the unthinkable happen during the year(s) of your membership and you are a serving submariner or a veteran submariner who is a WRS subscribing member you will be remembered by having a gold poppy dedicated to you on the following year's annual pin.
- You may attend and have a members vote within any AGM or EGM held within the year of your membership.
- You are able to purchase additional membership badges, items which can only be seen and bought by full subscribing members when they log in to their profile.
- Additionally, a wreath or the funding of a donation in lieu, as specified by the Next of Kin for the funeral of all submariners (retired or serving) who have Crossed the Bar **, which We Remember Submarines is made aware of.
- Gift special memorial pins to the immediate relatives of all deceased submariners. These pins are named ‘Moly’ Pins, in honour of the late Lt Cdr Ian Molyneux RN GM, and feature a wreath of red poppies with a single golden poppy in remembrance of each family’s individual loss. ‘Moly’ Pins cannot be purchased.
- After 10 x individual year of subscriptions has been achieved a WRS member will be provided with a 10 year subscriptions pin gratis issue.
- The NOK of a WRS member who Crosses the Bar may, if they so wish, continue with their partners subscription and will be credited with any years earned by their partner towards the 10 year pin.
- A Gold Poppy recipient's NOK will, in addition to the Moly pin(s) mentioned at 8 above and when we receive the relevant annual Remembrance pins in April annually, receive 5 in number Remembrance pins gratis issue on which their NOK is remembered.
Initial membership plans runs for 12 months. WRS Members can normally renew up to 6 months before their current membership expires, however, during 2026 this has been extended to 11 months before.
Annual pins are usually dispatched as soon as you have paid your renewal fee, although please note that the earliest they normally start being sent out is early-mid April each year. You receive one annual Remembrance pin for each 12 month block of membership you have purchased.
