The HMS Collingwood Open Day on Saturday 6th July turned out to be a beautifully sunny day, which encouraged the crowds to turn out in force to visit the home of Naval Weapons Electrical Engineering and watch the annual Brickwoods Field Gun Competition.
The We Remember Submariner’s gazebo was once again pitched in a key location and drew large crowds all day. Events Coordinator, Mrs Leigh Dodds was ably assisted on the day by Chairman, Michael Dewhirst, Membership Manager, John Ireland, Pin Coordinator, Mrs Terri Mellor, WRS Trustee Cdr Rob Richards and his partner, Georgina Pickering.
Visitors were able to learn about the charity, how to join for a mere £10 and some took the opportunity to purchase pins from previous years as well as polo shirts and other items of quality merchandise.
The HMS Collingwood Open Day also marks the time when the WRS annual pin goes on general sale to the public. Keen to buy his own, Commodore Submarines, Paul Dunn visited the stand and using a King’s £20 note, purchased a 2024 pin from Chairman Mick Dewhirst, but you can buy yours for £5.50.
