More than 100 members of the Weapon Engineering Submarine community gathered in the WO & SRs Mess, HMS Neptune, for the 8th Ian Molyneux WESM Dinner on Wednesday 9 September 2026. Held as part of celebrations marking 125 years of the Submarine Service, the evening brought together serving personnel, veterans, honoured guests and supporters in a fitting celebration of remembrance, friendship and the enduring spirit of the submarine community. Operations Manager, Ian Atkinson was extremely humbled to be invited to a birthday lunch on 23rd April 2026 by Freshford RBL to honour WW2 submariner Roy Booth as he turned 100. On behalf of WRS, Ian presented Roy with a bronze statue and a card and made him an honourary member of We Remember Submariners.

BETHEL IM, NEWTOWN, WIGAN From an early age, Harry spent most of his Church life at St Marks C Of E, Newtown, where he served as Vicar's Warden for a number of years. He was a member of the PCC, a Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member, a Home Sacrament Steward, House-group Leader, a member of the Men's Society and carried out endless maintenance work on the Church premises. Following the tragic loss of the Indonesian submarine KRI Nanggala - 402, We Remember Submariners held a trustee meeting on 25 April and decided unanimously to raise some money for the families of the 53 who sadly perished in the submarine. With the very sad and sudden Crossing of the Bar of Keith Bishop one of the Trustees of We Remember Submariners on the 1st August 2017—and in line with our motto of Past, Present & Future—WRS have made the decision to create The Keith Bishop Memorial Scholarship. Keith as a young lad was in the Sea Cadets which set him on his way to joining the Royal Navy and had many memories and often talked of his experiences. The Keith Bishop Memorial Scholarship is intended to support the future and will take the form of WRS offering 5 bursaries for young people from sea cadet units across the country…

I first met Paddy on joining the Trafalgar class submarine HMS Talent 20 years ago in September 1998. From Day 1, on a boat full of new faces, Paddy was the guy that was most welcoming. He showed me around and introduced me to more people than I could possibly remember in one go. Since that day, we became firm friends. Paddy was the shining light in the room. If someone was feeling low, it would be Paddy who would crack a joke or act the clown to lighten the mood.
