Wigan Junior Latics Royals U12’s, received sponsorship for their new kit. The purchase of three Kayaks for the Sea Cadet unit in Musselburgh. The purchase of an adapted wheelchair for para athlete Gordon Clarke to complete in Wheelchair rugby. A donation towards an adapted bicycle for para athlete Gary Hardwick to train for the Invictus Games. A donation towards the creation of a hi tech K13 memorial bench at the Submarine Heritage Centre. We are delighted to announce that the memorial bench, that can be seen below, has been funded by We Remember Submariners and installed, near to the HMS Ark Royal anchor in Plymouth town centre. We are pleased to have supported the purchase of this memorial bench as we know a number of submariners still live in this historic Royal Navy city.

We Remember Submariners and UK Submarine Veterans, presented a cheque to Mr Jason Zacharini, the unit Commanding Officer of the Barrow Sea Cadet Sailing Centre. The donation was raised last year following sales of the 2017 WRS pin.

After a week of torrential rain and thunderstorms, We Remember Submariners arrived in Fareham for the HMS Collingwood Field Gun competition, where we sponsored the Field Gun crew from HMS Neptune. Fortunately, despite the weather earlier in the week, it was a scorcher of a day. Following the field gun competition The Neptune crew, presented us with a couple of their crew shirts. With the very sad and sudden Crossing of the Bar of Keith Bishop one of the Trustees of We Remember Submariners on the 1st August 2017—and in line with our motto of Past, Present & Future—WRS have made the decision to create The Keith Bishop Memorial Scholarship. Keith as a young lad was in the Sea Cadets which set him on his way to joining the Royal Navy and had many memories and often talked of his experiences. The Keith Bishop Memorial Scholarship is intended to support the future and will take the form of WRS offering 5 bursaries for young people from sea cadet units across the country…

On Friday 5th May 2017 our chairman, Nigel Mellor, attended the families Centre at RAF Halton to meet up with the team of ladies that had been sleeping out overnight to raise awareness and funds for the charity Combat Stress. He presented the ladies with a cheque for a substantial sum, to assist them in raising over £4,000 pounds for Combat Stress. Combat Stress is an amazing charity which supports ex-serviceman who need help in overcoming psychological injuries caused whilst serving their Country.
