David Smith

Joined the Royal Navy in 1968 as a Junior MEM and left in May 2002 as a WOMEA(ML)(SM). Served i HMS Nubian and HMS Tiger before joining the Submarine Service in 1974. Subsequently served in HMS Rorqual, HMS Superb and HMS Spartan, with periods at HMS Sultan, HMS Defiance (Submarine Maintenance Unit and Nuclear Repair) and MoD DGSM 557at Foxhill. On leaving the Service, joined BAE Systems in Barrow 2002, working on the Astute and Dreadnought programmes. Spent the final years before retirement, in 2019, as Nuclear Procedure Authorisation Group Chairman and Principal Technologist.

A member of the WRS since 2019 and Submarine Association, Barrow Branch since 2003, serving as Secretary for 4 years. Interests walking, golf and amateur magician.
