Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has died. We have a new Monarch, His Majesty King Charles III.
There are very few people in this Country who have experienced the death of a Monarch. We must give thanks for the long illustrious life of Queen Elizabeth, an Anchor of constancy in our National History. For the 70 years she led us, our Nation grew in international stature and is respected around the world. When someone mentioned ‘The Queen’ anywhere around the World, everyone knew which Queen was being talked about.
As servicemen and women of the Submarine Service, we pledged Loyalty to her. Now we have a new King, our service will go on, under a new cap badge and new Dolphins, but with the same dedication to our Nation and its hard-won freedoms.
We will mourn, but then we will rejoice.
The Future awaits us.
Tonight’s sad sunset will eventually lead us to a bright new dawn.
